Anechoic Chamber EMC-CyberEM-RCS

This totally anechoic chamber is partly dedicated to analyzes of hardware cybersecurity of information systems from the angle of the untimely or malicious emanation of electromagnetic radiation intercepted remotely or, on the contrary, from the angle of the electromagnetic attack targeting to paralyze the so-called information system (possibly on-board, such as a drone). It is operational in terms of RCS analysis between 1 GHz and 18 GHz in the context of research work and training activities on this subject, but also in the context of the search for synergy between RCS analysis and cybersecurity analysis. This new measurement base also allows the analysis of the EMC of electronic devices in radiated immunity in compliance with standard EN6100-4-3 in the band 80 MHz to 6 GHz or radiated emissivity.

Technical description

This technical platform includes completely removable pyramidal absorbers on the ground, it is equipped with a turntable, an antenna positioning system mounted on a central rail 5.80m long and a two-axis scanner.

Technical characteristics :

  • size anechoic chamber : 9,00 m x 3,95 m x 2,90 m (hauteur) ;
  • size between points : 7,84 m x 2,59 m x 1,90 m (hauteur) ;
  • compliance with standard EN61000-4-3 ;
  • 2 honeycombs 18 GHz ;
  • 3 technical panels each comprising : 4 N connectors, 8 SMA and a 20 mm diameter waveguide ;
  • internal power supply with 4 230 V power sockets ;
  • turntable with polystyrene positioning column (permittivity close to 1) ;
  • antenna mast mounted on central rail (rail length 5.80 m) ;
  • 2-axis motorized scanner (field measurements on a vertical plane with movement of 1 m on each axis) ;
  • vector network analyzer : Keysight P5024B 20 GHz 8 ports ;

Scientific results

  • Backscaterring measures which enabled national patent to be filed with international extansion. A review article was also published. These results gave birth to the current project as well as an ANR Cyclope project repository (2014-2019) ;
  • Drones mesurements which made it possible to carry out collaborations and research contracts ;
  • Radar characteristic measurements (deviation measurement).
